5Q's w/: Bishen Sen "The Grief Counselor" Director, Writer

QUESTION#1: What excited you the most when making this film?: Everything!! The opportunity to bring a complex yet delicate story to life with a team of passionate pros.

QUESTION#2: What was the most significant film you've seen AT THE THEATER in 2024, and how did it influence your filmmaking?: I will have to admit that I have not seen any films at the theater this year. Yes, surprised myself just thinking about it also.

QUESTION#3: What's an obvious and not-so-obvious question someone might ask about your film?: Obvious: Is it based on a true story? Not Obvious: Did she (spoiler)?

QUESTION#4: A magic movie genie is giving you an unlimited budget for your next production! However, you're only allowed to use it on either "above line" or "below line" resouces. Which do you choose and why?: What a dream scenario. My heart would want all the money in the world for the below the line crew. But my brain says, “Easier to raise more money once you already have money and stars.” If I have all the money in the world for script development, producers, and the biggest stars possible, I think I can raise the universe for rest of the cast and crew.

QUESTION#5: What is it about your current movie that will influence your next film?: THE GRIEF COUNSELOR is about trauma, pain, and acceptance. These are all basic facets of the human experience in my opinion. It is hard for me to imagine any story I tell in the future not exploring these in one way or another.
