Donna Bonilla Wheeler is an Indigenous Peruvian-Irish film and theatre director, known for her family mockumentary mystery, Death of a Saleswoman, which sold at Cannes, Berlinale, and AFM markets, and streams on U.S. and international platforms.
Donna is one of only 12 global Finalists invited to the 2020 MIPTV/Cannes In Development Series Competition, to present her 6x60' Indigenous/Latina adventure series, Clash. She is also a Producer-to-Watch at MIPTV, 2020-2023.
Her recent works include film and TV projects selected on scholarship to Stowe Story Labs, Sidewalk Narrative Labs, ReelSisters/BRIC Workshops, FS2P Workshops, Pagecraft Workshops, and Sundance Workshops. Donna’s music-driven feature script, The Girl Next Door is a 2x Academy Nicholl Semifinalist, and has been awarded multiple screenplay awards. Her short proof of concept film, The Girl Next Door has screened at over 55 film festivals around the world, winning multiple awards in several categories. She is presently in development and prep for directing her feature project, Natalia Rising.
Donna is a classically trained violinist, and also writes and directs commercial campaigns for global brands. She is also a trained legal researcher and writer in Federal and State courts.
